About Toppesfield Community Pub Limited (‘TCP’)

TCP Share HoldersToppesfield Community Pub Ltd (TCP) is the owner of the freehold and the landlord of the Green Man public house in the village of Toppesfield, North Essex.

TCP purchased the pub from Admiral Taverns in December 2012 in order to secure its future and to ensure that it remained a focal point of village life.

TCP was established as an Industrial & Provident Society and registered at the FSA in July 2012.

It is managed by a management committee comprising 10 members and operates in line with rules based on the Plunkett Foundation model.

DSC_2152TCP has in excess of 150 shareholder members and whilst the majority live in Toppesfield and Gainsford End, a substantial number live elsewhere in the UK and as far afield as Canada.

It is thanks to these shareholders and other partners that TCP was able to raise £289,000 to fund the purchase.

Now that we own the Green Man the work to make it a modern and effective community asset can begin.

Since the purchase in 2012 a lot has been has been achieved and a lot more is planned.

With the ‘hands on’ support from community members, local businesses and our partners urgent repairs and maintenance has been completed to stabilise the condition of the pub and its out buildings and TCP extends it’s thanks to all involved.

There followed an extended period of consultation, planning, research to formulate the dream into a solid future plans which are now in place and active.
