The TCP committee currently comprises the following:
Mary Ann Stevenson (Chair):
She has worked in housing and social care for over 20 years and until recently was Head of Strategy and Operations covering East Anglia for a national social care organisation.
She now works for Cambridgeshire County Council as a Business Improvement and Development Project Manager.
She has been a school governor, was part of the Village Plan development group and has played key roles in the organisation of a number of village events including both Royal Jubilee’s and the Royal Wedding that have brought the whole community together.
Dave Dyson (Vice Chair):
Dave has lived in the village for 18 years. He is a former Chair of the Parish Council, current Vice Chair of the Village hall Committee and was a founder member of the group that established Toppesfield Community Stores in 2002.
Before retiring Dave was Deputy Chief Executive of Brentwood District Council.
Alan Collard (Treasurer):
Alan has lived in Toppesfield since 1976 and was a founder member of Toppesfield Community Pub. Alan was also an original member of the Management Committee of Toppesfield Community Shop and its Treasurer between 2007 and 2009.
He is a banker by background and was a Managing Director at JP Morgan Chase, based in London and Johannesburg, before leaving banking in 2004.
He is currently running an advisory company focused on Africa.
Alan is a Non-executive Director of Colne Housing Society Ltd, Management Committee member of Pumphouse Community Brewery Limited, and a Trustee of The Nancy Salmon Trust, a registered charity.
Mary James (Company Secretary):
After leaving Customs & Excise to raise her family, Mary has been active in the village as a parish councillor, village hall trustee and member of the community shop committee.
She also worked for many years in a local school as a Teaching Assistant.
He was a parish councilor for 20 years and has been a member of the PCC for 12 years.
He sings in the church choir and has recently been elected churchwarden.
He is a partner in Tricker Blackie Associates, chartered architects based in Sudbury and has been in practice for over 40 years.
Among his architectural projects in the village have been the building of the village shop, rehanging the church bells, creating a new vestry in the tower and refurbishing the village pump.
He worked for the Customs & Excise for many years before becoming the Group VAT Manager for Whitbread plc. Subsequently Mike moved to the Educational division within Pearson plc. He is chair of the VAT In Industry Group.
Since the early 90s John has run his own PR consultancy business, specialising in the construction and building sector and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Special Interest Group (CIMSIG) for the construction industry.
He was Managing Director of Burton, TopMan and Champion Sport, a Director of Debenhams and, until retirement, CEO for the Asia Pacific region of Thorn EMI.
He now takes an interest in Heritage matters as Chairman of Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury and Managing Trustee of Essex Heritage Trust.
Within the village he is Churchwarden and Treasurer of St Margaret’s Parish Church.
Peter has been the Chief Executive Officer of The Consolis Group for the last five years. The Group has six companies, all with a core focus on technology innovation in the epos market, in particular for the Hospitality and Retail Sectors.
Peter also sits on a Business Angel investment fund which focuses on young entrepreneurial technology companies.
Roles including; Head installer for Britons Carpet Turku Finland. Site Agent Kiev Ukraine. Commercial Flooring Contractor Al Art Hotel Barcelona Spain. Deputy Contracts Manager at AHP Builder. Contracts Supervisor for Quality Environment Design (QED). Director of Alan Preston Carpets.
The owner proprietor partner in The Drum Inn public house Earls Colne, he also currently holds a personal licence to run a public house.
Now Director of APC Interiors & Flooring, with various projects throughout the UK and recently qualified to hold the IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) Certificate.
He is Managing Director of 3 industrial organisations, having spent the last 6 years in business recovery roles.
